Email privacy starts with your first message

Start with a disposable email
When you need to stay in touch
switch to anonymous forwarding

A one-time address catches verification codes and notifications for you. When a relationship needs to continue, an independent alias forwards messages to your real inbox.

Two address types, each for a different kind of relationship

A disposable email is not a smaller version of a long-term inbox

Both hide your real email, but they suit different relationship lengths. Consider how long messages will arrive before deciding whether to keep a forwarding channel.

Short-term receiving

Disposable email: keep unfamiliar websites at arm’s length

Ideal for verification codes, one-time downloads, trial accounts, and short-term notifications. The address lasts 3 hours by default and can be extended as needed, up to 24 hours after creation.

  • No sign-up—open the page and start using it
  • Demo content is removed automatically when a real message arrives
  • Read or delete individual messages; attachments are not retained

Long-term forwarding

Email aliases: keep a contact channel without giving away your real address

Ideal for shopping, subscriptions, communities, and collaborations. Assign a different alias to each source and keep messages flowing to your usual inbox. If one source gets out of control, pause only that alias.

  • Manage up to 100 separate aliases
  • Forwarding history retained on the site for 30 days
  • Pause, resume, or delete individual aliases

Anonymous receiving in three steps

The address comes first; the message follows

The tool doesn’t ask you to fill in details first. Copy the address to complete your task, then return to the same inbox to check the result.

Copy the current address

The system automatically creates a unique disposable address and stores its access token in your current browser. A normal refresh won’t change the address.

Use it to sign up or verify

Enter the disposable address on sites you’re unsure about, keeping your real inbox out of marketing lists and data-sharing chains.

Return to the inbox to read

The inbox refreshes periodically. When a real message arrives, it replaces the demo email in the list; messages are marked read only when you open them.

Clear retention boundaries

Leave fewer lasting identity trails

Anonymous receiving isn’t a promise of invisibility—it reduces unnecessary data connections. OrbForward separates short-term receiving from long-term forwarding, so you can control your exposure based on the length of each relationship.

Disposable address3 hours by default, extendable to 24 hours after creation; attachments are not retained.
Forwarding archiveRetained on the site for up to 30 days for retries, spam reporting, and delivery-status checks.
Attachment limitsForwarded attachments up to 50MB may be retained; 50–100MB attachments are forwarded without an on-site copy; messages over 100MB are rejected.
ControlReplace disposable addresses, or pause and delete aliases. There’s no need to change your real email because one source was exposed.

When is email isolation worthwhile?

Four common situations where you don’t need to share the same real address

The question isn’t whether a website looks big or small. Ask whether you need long-term contact, whether it may send recurring marketing, and whether you can revoke the relationship at any time.

Downloads and trials

When you only need one link or verification code, use a disposable email to complete the task and keep later promotions out of your everyday inbox.

Shopping and after-sales support

Orders, refunds, and warranties can last for weeks or months, making a dedicated forwarding alias a better fit. Decide whether to keep it after the transaction ends.

Communities and events

Event registrations and community notifications can come from many sources. Separate aliases by source to quickly identify who expanded their use of your address.

App sign-ups

Use a short-term address to verify low-frequency apps. If you decide to keep using one and may need account recovery, switch to a dedicated forwarding alias.

Source tracking

One alias per site makes unusual marketing traceable. When unrelated messages arrive, you won’t have to guess which list leaked your address.

Public contact

Portfolio, hiring, and collaboration pages need a revocable point of contact. A forwarding alias is easier to manage than publishing your real email.

How to choose an address lifespan

Choose based on when the last message may arrive—not how quickly you sign up

Verification codes may arrive in seconds, while a refund notification can take days. The address should last through the latest necessary message, with room for resends and delays.

Tasks that fit within 3 hours

A one-time code, instant download, short survey, or same-day confirmation usually doesn’t need an extension. Once the message arrives, let the address expire naturally.

  • Keep the page open or return later from the same browser
  • Refresh during network delays instead of quickly switching addresses
  • Changing addresses starts a new 3-hour period

Tasks that need more time or forwarding

If a message may arrive overnight, extend the address by 3 hours at a time, up to 24 hours after creation. Relationships lasting longer than a day should use alias forwarding.

  • Estimate the wait for appointment confirmations and queue notifications first
  • Orders, after-sales support, and subscriptions aren’t a good fit for disposable addresses
  • A long-term alias keeps your real email private

Frequently asked questions

Know these boundaries before using a disposable email

A short-term anonymous address reduces exposure, but it doesn’t replace account security, strong passwords, or two-factor authentication. Important relationships need a recoverable, manageable long-term channel.

Do I really not need to sign up for a disposable email?

Correct. The homepage creates a 3-hour address immediately and stores its access token in your current browser. If you clear browser data or switch devices, the original inbox may not be recoverable.

Will refreshing the page change my email address?

No. As long as the address is still valid and the local access token exists, the page restores the same inbox. Clicking “Get a new address” creates a new address and deactivates the old one.

Why can I use it for only 24 hours?

Disposable email is designed for short-term relationships, with a maximum lifespan of 24 hours after creation. For anything longer, a pausable and deletable email alias is more reliable.

Can a disposable email receive attachments?

Disposable email does not retain attachments, and messages over 100MB are rejected. For attachments and long-term records, use anonymous forwarding and review the retention limits for each file size.

Why didn’t my real email open automatically?

Unread messages don’t open automatically because opening a message marks it as read. New messages appear in the list on the left, and you decide when to read them.

What’s the difference between disposable email and an email alias?

Disposable email is for a one-time task completed within a few hours. An email alias is for ongoing relationships such as shopping, subscriptions, and collaboration. Both isolate your real email, but their revocation methods and retention periods differ.
